      Job summary:

      The role holder leads a clinical team in an Opcare Centre in assessing clients / patients in conjunction with other members of the interdisciplinary team as appropriate then ensures prosthetic treatment is provided based on best practice. Ensures the highest standards of clinical, operational, financial, and Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality governance within the centre. Ensuring that the centre both profitably and ethically achieves its goals, delivers clinical excellence, meets/exceeds KPIs and operates within financial budgets & targets and ultimately allows us to deliver the best possible patient care and patient outcomes within the centre.

      Key Responsibilities & Tasks

      • The clinical lead carries out the line management responsibilities of the clinical team in that centre. This includes appraisals, coaching and / or development requirements and performance management processes, working closely together with the Centre Manager (CM).
      • Ensures the team continuously improves and displays a ‘can do attitude’
      • Ensures the clinical team are achieving the objectives set by the business. When performance is not in line with the standards set the Clinical Lead ensures effective actions are being agreed and followed up to recover the position working closely together with the CM.
      • Supports and motivates the clinical team, ensuring resources are fully utilised to achieve patient / customer / organisational requirements. This includes the monitoring of the workload of clinical staff.
      • Complies Reports on centre clinical activities to the senior management team, advising any relevant issues working together with the CM. Identifies, analyses and leads the resolution of any clinical issues.
      • Ensuring company H&S practices and procedures are followed in accordance with the Health & Safety Regulations.
      • Co-ordinate and undertake clinical audits and R&D work with the clinical team in a timely manner to meet service and company objectives with actions arising (clinical, quality, financial, health & safety etc.).
      • To assess clients / patients in conjunction with Physiotherapists, NHS Consultants, Doctors and other members of the interdisciplinary team as appropriate.
      • Where applicable, liaise with the Workshop Manager / Designated Quality Authority (DQA) to address identified quality problems and assist in providing effective solutions.
      • Review and develop patient pathways within the service and ensure that audit is routinely carried out amongst the team.
      • Ensure episodes of care are carried out in a timely fashion in compliance with the specified times agreed in the contract.
      • Minimise wastage of NHS or company funding by ensuring that products are ordered correctly. If there is a product that is deemed not to be suitable ensure that the product is not damaged and that the packaging is available in order for a refund to be claimed.
      • To ensure team practice within the code of ethics and guidelines of the HCPC.
      • Leads by example in use of technology in patient care e.g. Computer aided design
      • Supports the local team in meeting national standards of prosthetic and orthotic device delivery standards

      Skills & Personal Attributes
      The position requires the job holder to possess:-

      • Proven practical experience working successfully at a senior level as a Prosthetist
      • Committed to the highest standards of patient care and practice in line with the role holders state registration e.g. HCPC.
      • Proven experience of motivating and working within high performing teams.
      • Positive and proactive ’can-do’ attitude.
      • Ability to build and maintain excellent working relationships internally and externally.
      • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
      • Able to prioritise, plan and organise efficiently and work with multiple conflicting priorities.
      • Robust judgement and ability to make sound decisions quickly and effectively in complex situations.
      • Self-motivated and uses initiative. Attitude of continuous improvement.
      • Good standard or literacy & numeracy.
      • Remains calm under pressure.
      • Have full DBS clearance.

      Qualifications:

      • Certified Prosthetist / Orthotist
      • HND Prosthetics / Orthotics
      • BSc Prosthetics / Orthotics
      • Preferably a member of BAPO
