      Financial Accountant

      The Ability Matters Group (AMG) is a market leading international healthcare products and services provider, operating primarily in areas that enhance mobility and accessibility including orthotics, prosthetics and wheelchairs. We have in excess of 60 sites across the UK and Ireland, as well as operations in Ireland, France, The Netherlands and Sweden employing approximately 700+ staff overall.

      Job Summary:

      The position of Financial Accountant is a hands-on role, ensuring the statutory, tax and treasury requirements of the business are met in a timely and accurate manner, as well as ad hoc projects to be completed within agreed timescales.

      There may be occasions when the role will require you to work beyond your contracted hours, in order to meet deadlines, and a positive attitude is required should this arise.

      Key responsibilities:

      • Tax & Statutory
      • VAT (UK & EU), preparing returns and ensuring compliance.
      • Preparing and filing Intrastat returns.
      • Management of Payroll Creditors (PAYE /NI/ Pensions).
      • Initial handling of tax enquiries from HMRC, with escalation to FD / external advisors as appropriate.
      • Reconcile Corp Tax movements and adjustments.
      • Manage tax payments to ensure payment dates are met.
      • Filing Confirmation Statements (Annual Returns).
      • Treasury.
      • Management of group bank accounts to ensure optimal allocation between companies / locations / currencies, and to minimise transaction and interest costs.
      • Cash forecasting.
      • Cash Book / Bank Reconciliations (multi-currency).
      • Control of direct debits and standing orders.
      • Ad-hoc tax & treasury projects.

      This role would suit a part qualified accountant perhaps looking to move from practice into their first commercial company role. Support in completing a professional qualification may be offered as appropriate. Proficiency in Excel is essential and familiarity with Microsoft Navision would be an advantage.
