We are currently seeking an experienced Prosthetist to join our service in Cambridge. The role sits within a large team of Prosthetists and orthotists providing clinical care to NHS patients Addenbrookes Hospital.
The patient portfolio of the service is varied, with challenging levels and presentations for both Lower and Upper limb amputees, including paediatrics. This is located within the main rehabilitation unit in Clinic 9 of the hospital, providing a manufacturing and clinical base for both prosthetic limbs and orthotic appliances. There is the opportunity to dual practice if desired.
Provide treatment based on best practice, measuring, tracing/casting and fitting prostheses
Ensure prostheses issued to patients are a correct fit and functioning satisfactorily in line with patient needs and prescription guidelines
Liaise with the Workshop Manager to address identified quality problems and assist in providing effective solutions, thus minimizing unnecessary wastage
Treat all users with dignity keeping them informed on their prosthetic treatment and the basis for actions/advice
Ensure episodes of care are carried out in a timely fashion in compliance with the specified times agreed in the contract
Review on a weekly basis the caseload to ensure that satisfactory progress is being made in providing prostheses in compliance to the agreed timeframe
Provide the manager with information where there are difficulties in achieving satisfaction either in quality of fit or in achieving the recommended timescales or specified requirements
Agree objectives with your Manager and report regularly on progress
Practice within the code of ethics and guidelines of the HPC
Participate in continuing professional development and ensure your CPD portfolio is maintained
Participate in clinical audit
All successful applicants will need to have a strong CPD portfolio with evidence of practice and skill set in all areas of Prosthetics care. Candidates must also have obtained a BSc in Prosthetics and Orthotics or other suitable and appropriate qualifications, must be registered with HCPC, and ideally be a member of BAPO and/or ISPO.
