      This is an exceptional and newly created position for a forward thinking Head of Logistics to join the business, reporting into the Operations Director. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in delivering excellence within our logistical operation at a time of rapid growth.

      THE ROLE:

      Forming an integral part of the senior management team, the role holder will:

      • Have overall management responsibility and accountability for the Logistics Function along with associated processes, procedures, budget and continuous improvement within the Ability Matters Group (AMG)
      • Oversee the distribution and storage of goods, ensuring that the right products are delivered to the right location on time and at best cost across multiple sites
      • Ensure the organisation meets the highest overall operational, management, financial & Health, Safety, Environmental & Quality (HSEQ) standards of logistics governance, also the identification and development of opportunities for future profitable growth
      • Understand of the whole supply chain, managing it effectively and liaising with suppliers of goods, manufacturers, retailers, patients and customers
      • Oversee the transportation, stock control, warehousing and monitoring the flow of goods.

      The role is ideally based in Abingdon (Oxfordshire), but may also be considered in Birmingham. Given the geographically dispersed operations of the Group, significant travel will be required within the UK.


      We are looking for a strong leader who has:

      • Significant experience of leading and working within a logistics environment, involving leading edge policies, processes and procedures
      • Strong commercial and negotiation skills
      • Proven experience of people management and motivating high-performing teams
      • Robust judgement and ability to make sound decisions quickly and effectively in complex situations
      • The ability to build and develop effective relationships with stakeholders and multi-disciplinary business management teams who operate in a dispersed geographical environment
      • A collaborative and collegiate style, achieving results through coaching and support.

      The role holder will be subject to a DBS check prior to commencing employment which must satisfy company standards.
